  • 4 cups of fresh cherries, pitted and cut into halves
  • 1/2 cup of vegan butter, melted
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of vegan sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of vegan sugar for sprinkling


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish with vegan butter. Spread the fresh cherries evenly in the dish. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the melted vegan butter and almond milk and mix until combined. Spoon the batter over the cherries and spread evenly. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/4 cup of vegan sugar. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
