Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup eggnog
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Cook until the mixture begins to boil, stirring occasionally. Continue to cook until the mixture turns a light golden color, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add in the melted butter, stirring until it is combined. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Add in the evaporated milk and eggnog, and mix until combined. Add in the cinnamon and nutmeg and mix again. Pour the custard mixture into the cake pan over the caramel and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set.
Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a plate or serving platter. Slice and enjoy with whipped cream or ice cream.
