Breaded Soya Cutlet Recipe

Breaded soya cutlets are a delicious and versatile vegetarian meal. They are easy to make and require few ingredients, making them perfect for busy weeknight meals. The cutlets are crispy on the outside, yet fluffy and tender on the inside. Serve them with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh green salad.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of soya mince
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of ground paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of vegan breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Preparation

Begin by combining the soya mince, onion, garlic, oregano, thyme, paprika, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Use your hands to mix the ingredients together until they are evenly combined. Divide the mixture into 8 equal parts and roll each part into a ball. Flatten each ball into a patty shape about 1/2 inch thick.

In a shallow dish, add the flour. In a separate shallow dish, add the egg and lightly beat it. In a third shallow dish, add the breadcrumbs. Dip each patty in the flour and shake off any excess. Then dip the patty in the egg and lightly coat it. Finally, dip the patty in the breadcrumbs and coat it evenly. Place the breaded patties on a plate or baking sheet.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough vegetable oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pan. When the oil is hot, add the patties to the pan and cook for about 4 minutes on each side, or until the patties are golden brown and crispy. Transfer the cooked patties to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
