Ingredients
To make Beans Poriyal, you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 cup of chopped green beans
- 1 teaspoon of oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon of urad dal
- 2-3 dry red chillies, broken into pieces
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
Preparation
Begin by washing and chopping the green beans into small pieces. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the mustard seeds and let them sizzle. Then add the urad dal and the dry red chillies. Fry for a few seconds until they turn golden brown. Now add the curry leaves and fry for a few more seconds.
Then add the chopped green beans and stir-fry for a few minutes. Add the turmeric powder and salt to taste and mix everything together. Cover the pan and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender. Once the beans are done, remove the pan from the heat and serve the Beans Poriyal hot with steamed rice or roti.
